Spring 2 - Easter fun!
We had an amazing time making our Easter bonnets with our parents and carers. We had our own mini Easter egg hunt and had a fantastic morning showing off our wonderful bonnets in our Easter parade.
In Literacy this half term, we read lots of different stories about different types of Australian animals. We wrote descriptive sentences to describe the animals, we wrote warning messages to warn the animals in the story ‘Wombat Goes Walkabout’ as well as make lists. We also labelled different Australian animals, Australian foods and acted out being different Australian animals.
We have had a big focus on numerical patterns - shape, space and measures. We have been learning lots of different vocabularies to describe the properties of shapes, measurements and capacity of things. We learned about time and clocks, and how to tell time to the hour and what we do at different times of the day and night
Our topic this term was - Now and then. For this topic, we learnt about ourselves and have lots of discussions about how we have changed since being born, what we could not do as a little baby but can now do as 4 and 5 year old children, what kind of things we liked and played with when we were younger compared to now. We looked at baby photos of us, explored baby objects, role played and acted like we were babies and we tried eating baby food to see if we still liked it and would still eat it.
In literacy and phonics this half term, we have been learning to pronounce and identify the sound that each letter of the alphabet makes. We have also been learning the name of each of the letter and practising how to write them. We have been focusing on our pencil grip and pencil control to improve our letter formation. We have also been practising to write of name.
