Runner Beans
We investigated how runner beans grow. We took steps to grow our own runner beans in plastic bottles. We then wrote instructions on how to grow a runner bean plant.
Challah Bread
In RE we talked about Shabbat and what is included on a Shabbat table. For our Literacy lesson we follow instructions on how to bake challah bread. How delicious does it look?
Star of David
As an introduction to our RE topic of Judaism, Willow class made Star of Davids to recognise and portray the importance of this symbol of Jewish identity and Judaism.
Kenyan Landscapes
We have been reading and adapting the story; Lila and the Secret of Rain in our Literacy lessons. We have described Kenyan villages, where the story is set. Following on from our Literacy lessons, we created a collage of a Kenyan landscape in our Art lesson. We used a gradient of different colours to represent the land, mountains, the sun and the sky.
Measure
In our Maths lessons we have been learning about standard and non-standard units of measurement. We enjoyed a practical lesson, where we measured the length of different objects in our classroom.
Barbara Hepworth
We created abstract sculptures using different shapes, inspired by the work of the famous sculptor; Barbara Hepworth.
Thank you…
As part of our PHSE lessons, we discussed the role of the special people in our lives and how important they are for us. We made cards to say thank you for all that they do for us.
All about Hackney!
We worked in pairs to create posters for tourists. We included all the things you can see and do in Hackney to persuade the tourists to visit the borough.

Guess the shape!
We played Maths games to secure our knowledge of 2D shapes. We had to describe the properties of our chosen shape so that our partners could guess and name the shape.
What is Forgiveness?
In our RE lessons we discussed what is meant by ‘Forgiveness.’ We defined forgiveness through art. We drew representations of what forgiveness means for us.
Retelling Mrs Armitage on Wheels
After reading Mrs Armitage on Wheels by Quentin Blake, we used drama to retell the key moments in the story. We create freeze frames to show the different parts of the story.
Tallies, Bars, Data!
As part of our Maths lesson, we took a little walk in the area to collect some data on the different types of transport we could see. We saw lots of cars, vans, trucks, buses and a few ambulances. We then used this data to create our own bar charts.
All things Transport
Here is our amazing Transport display including our postcards as tourists on the Moon, an explanation text on how to look after the Moon and some art work of different types of transport. We are very proud!
Making vehicles!
As part of our Transport topic, we had a WOW day where we designed and made our own vehicles. We had to carefully select our materials and see how they could serve a purpose in our design.
Job Interviews
We read the story: Man on the Moon by Simon Bartram. We then,interviewed one another to see if we would make good candidates to took on a job to look after the Moon. We figured it takes a lot of hard work to keep the Moon clean and safe!
Investigating animal poo
We took part in a scientific investigation to explore the diets of different animals. We looked at animal ‘poo’ to suggest if it was excreted by a carnivore, herbivore or an omnivore. We looked at clues in the poo such as bones, plants and seeds to answer questions.
Making a cucumber sandwich
We made cucumber sandwiches by reading and following a set of instructions.
Understanding and using instructions
We started our Literacy topic with a lesson on understanding and using instructions. We had a go at creating our own dance routines with clear instructions. The other groups had to follow our instructions to complete our dance routines.
Portraits
We had such a fun lesson where we got to sketch portraits of each other using acryclic boards. We had to focus on different features of the face, proportion and orientation.
